You've certainly chosen two seminal works to write about! It's almost impossible to exaggerate the impact Queer as Folk had on the zeitgeist. I don't think even the later TV serial "Tales of the City" got people talking as much.
One tidbit to mention that I thought of while reading your story: a lot of the queer people I knew were a little disappointed with the American adaptation of Queer as Folk. For years, the original British version had been an underground smash hit in U.S. queer circles, and the general consensus among my friends seemed to be that the American version was (disappointingly) less edgy and real.
I think that sentiment has largely evaporated as the American series is recognized for doing all the positive things you wrote about.
Thanks for a great story!
