You're making me nostalgic for the warm summer days I spent playing spades and drinking a beer or two with neighbors in Detroit NW. Usually, we would be out on somebody's porch, just middle-aged men passing time and telling tall tales. Fond memories.
I enjoy all of the sort of bidding card games you mentioned, and one more too.
Have you ever heard of skat?
It's a German bidding card game that's the ancestor of pinochle and euchre and is not entirely unlike bridge in its complexity. Like bridge, you and your partner have to mind meld if you want to be any good as a team.
I love skat, although I guess I would probably say bridge is slightly more interesting and sophisticated.
Just thought I'd mention it if you felt like expanding your card-playing horizons.
