Your story is probably a good example of why "Yes means yes" is important and helpful. I don't mean to imply that the person you're writing about should not have already known you didn't mean yes. He absolutely should have known.

But I do think we should be working harder to normalize the importance of verbal consent, and to teach people that verbal consent is sexy.
