Your points are superb and well taken, Left Wisdom.

You know what gets me? Every time I write an article about religiously-based homophobia and talk about Christians, I can count on the fact that conservative Christians on social media will comment to me about how I’m missing the point — that it’s really Islam that’s throwing gay people off roofs.

And many of them get downright nasty about it.

It’s like they somehow suppose that their own faiths' misdeeds are ameliorated because some other faith treats us even worse than they do.

When I lost my apartment in New York City because religious people had made it impossible for me to inherit, I did not (oddly enough) take comfort in the fact some people elsewhere on the globe had things even worse than I did.

Yet when I try to explain this, people who are defending religious bigotry just get more and more angry. But the roof throwers! But the roof throwers! But the roof throwers!

Honestly, it’s just exhausting.
