Your headline grabbed me, because a few years ago my business partner’s cool but wacky brother bought into the whole flat Earth conspiracy theory thing.
My business partner and I conducted real research to show him the Earth is a sphere. By that I mean, we did real science, conducting experiments he could look at with his own eyes. We even bought some cheap navigational instruments for an experiment to calculate the distance to the moon.
Unfortunately, the brother’s idea of research was googling things and watching YouTube videos. So even though we put direct information in his hands about the matter over a course of months, doing what was essentially real if basic scientific research, he left the process still believing the Earth was flat.
