Your commenter is full of bullshit. You should ask him to familiarize himself with Popper's Paradox of Tolerance – with the concept that unlimited tolerance leads inevitably to authoritarianism.

People like to natter about how everybody's opinion should be respected, but nobody actually believes that.

All sorts of opinions are considered beyond the pale – think racism, support of sexual abuse, antisemitism, etc.

Matt Walsh and other prominent transphobes (and let's face it, Walsh is obsessed) lie, distort, and fear monger with one goal in mind — to spread hatred against trans people and to work to persecute and oppress trans people. (And let's not forget that they have no kind feelings towards other queer people.)

It's not too much to ask for tolerance of difference. It's not. Walsh & Co aren't arguing for respecting differences. They're urging that society smash individual differences.

All people of goodwill should fight against that tooth and nail. There is no good reason on earth to tolerate calls for intolerance.
