You sure describe Fire Island to a tee. I suspect you would enjoy P-Town more. First, it's just much bigger. There's a real town with people who live there year round, not just timeshares and vacation houses. Second, P-Town is popular with an older set, so it's not just young gay men looking to get laid, although that certainly exists.

Drag shows are very popular in P-Town, and there's a thriving artist community of all sorts.

It's not cheap, though. That's a mixed reality. If you were able to perform there, you would be looking at an audience that can afford to pay. But you have to live somewhere while you're there, which ... can really cost.

Sometimes P-Town venues work with the performance artists they sponsor, I mean to defray their expenses. How to arrange a booking is totally outside my experience, though, I'm afraid.
