You remind me that science fiction author Robert Heinlein often joked to readers that he chose a writing career in lieu of working. He said when he first got a check for writing a short story, he realized he could never go back to "honest labor" again.
And he once created a character who was a professional writer with a sybaretic lifestyle of ease and conspicuous consumption.
Fans who watched Heinlein's prodigious output, year after year and decade after decade, probably doubted his claims about a life of ease.
Indeed, his wife Virginia revealed after he died that he was one of the hardest working people she'd ever known, usually locked in his study for 12 to 14 hour days, often even on weekends.
Can you even imagine the splitting headaches? I can, from personal experience! 🤣
