You remind me that I just spent three days on the phone searching for any United Methodist leader anywhere in the United States who would go on the record to say that calling children fags is unacceptable. I couldn't find one United Methodist leader who would make that simple statement. Not one.

Is this the kind of silence Michael Brown is speaking of? No. But the organized Christian world is full of people who are silent when it comes to matters of simple morality and common human decency.

And THAT is is very, very, very hurtful to LGBTQ people.
