You make some really important points here. I try not to read deep into Twitter threads where TERFs or "gender criticals" lambaste trans people. It's too depressing and even traumatizing.

But even so, I notice every single day of my life that the anti-trans mob brands trans people as "defective," "pathological," or "mentally ill" by citing high suicide rates.

Anti-LGBTQ activists often say the same thing about gay people, btw, especially gay youth, stating or implying that their high suicide rate is "proof" that being gay is harmful.

Somehow, they never seem to connect the dots to the fact that queer people who feel safe and supported have very good mental health outcomes.

What really gets me on a visceral level is how pleased, triumphant even, these activists sound when they announce high suicide rates.

"Gotcha!" they seem to be saying, "you diseased stains on society. Now do us all a favor and either disappear or die."

I can't imagine what it would be like to be so hateful.
