One of the banned books in question is the Heartstopper series of graphic novels. Schools in Florida have banned the book as sexualized. Ignorant and stupid people have actually called it pornography, despite the fact that it contains absolutely zero sex. None. Nada. Zilch. Not any.
The story merely frankly portrays gay and trans teenage couples falling in love and going on dates — just like happens in real life constantly, including in Florida.
Children have the human right, must have the human right, to read about people like themselves.
The right to vote is one civil right among many. The right to speak and occupy the public stage is as critical if not more critical of a civil right than that.
It's actually one of the founding principles of the United States. It's a right, and an important one, whether people like you think so or not.
If you think that the right of queer people to speak is not a right, then what you think absolutely does not matter. You are dead wrong. And you are deeply un-American.
That's just the beginning of a response I could make about rights. Don't bother arguing. If you try to answer back that we queer people should not have equal speech rights or any other kinds of rights, I'll block you that fast. Because I don't interact with bigoted scum.
