You know, there’s an excellent reason race and skin color weren’t mentioned in the Bible. Race wasn’t a thing yet. It hadn’t been constructed by humans.

People weren’t being persecuted and oppressed because of their race, but as you mention so insightfully, they were persecuted and oppressed for other reasons. And the Bible speaks out about that.

Jesus himself spoke up loud and often against othering and not loving.

He radically redefined the word neighbor to include the entire human family.

If Jesus were alive today, would he speak out against racism? Would he protest the mistreatment of Black folks and rail against a system that makes them other and less? Would he recognize color?

I think we all know the answer to that question.
