You know, there's a Gay Street in New York City's Greenwich Village too, and these days the street is (of course) very very gay. But the street name's history dates back to before Greenwich Village was known as a gay neighborhood and even before the word "gay" meant what it means today.

Tourists often think the street was named after the neighborhood, but it's a complete coincidence!

Sorry, just had to drop that little side note in here.
