You know, speaking of authoritarian, Genevieve McVann, a Catholic lay leader contacted me via Twitter last night, saying he wanted to help me understand that Catholic doctrine isn’t homophobic. Then he sent me a document that described in exhausting detail why gay men are disordered, must not be allowed to have sex, and must not be allowed to marry. I told him exactly how foul and disgusting his beliefs are and exactly what a vile bigot he is. His response was to tell me I needed to be “chastised for being impolite,” and that I needed to lose my anger. I blocked him at that point, but I’d say he’s a perfect example of how evil and authoritarian bigoted Catholic leaders tend to be.

Telling a victim of bigotry not to be angry about it is some of the most fucked up bullshit I’ve ever heard. My jaw is still dropping over it.
