You know some languages don't do gendered pronouns at all while other languages are even more rigid about them than English?
I was recording a podcast last night with a group of queer youth panelists, and when when we came to the obligatory pronoun sharing, I said without thinking, "You're free to call me he/him if you like, but they/them is cool too because I'm not so sure gendered pronouns need to be emphasized in our language."
I got some interesting looks from the panel, and while my comment was off the cuff and not deeply thought out, I'm wondering about it.
