You know, rereading this, I probably could have gone to more pains to connect some dots. It just so happens that this week on Twitter has been really frightening for LGBTQ people. It looks like Twitter safety has taken a full couple of steps back from enforcing rules about hate speech.

People are getting away with calling us fags, telling us to "take the dick out of your mouth," and with using the supposedly banned pedo and groomer slurs.

Left and right, people are getting responses from Twitter saying those things don't break Twitter rules.

Combine that with the book banning and now the cancellation of so many entertainment programs with LGBTQ characters, and it looks like media companies have decided to give in to the right wing.

We queer folks are on our own.
