You know, I never really thought about it like this, but when I lived in Detroit I belonged to a health club where the membership was somewhere in excess of 80% Black.

I swam several days a week for quite a long time, and it’s just occurring to me that most of the people doing laps were white, quite in contrast to the rest of the gym where I was in a distinct minority as a white person. When I ran on the indoor track, most of the people running with me were Black. Likewise in the weight room.

So your observations must not hold for just the UK.
