You know, even while some of these fights were going on (fights I was directly part of on the other side of the pond) small contingents of LGBT people argued respectability politics, only we didn’t call it respectability politics then.

“Oh stop being so confrontational in the streets,” they would scold. “Watch your language, what will people think. Gasp!”

Etc.

They took little to zero role in fighting for change or making the world a better place for LGBT people, but they sure complained a lot. Andrew Sullivan is one such type. Sat on the sideline and threw rhetorical rocks at the people actually fighting for change.

Oh, until marriage equality came up for grabs, and that was “respectable’ enough for him to advocate for.

Andrew Sullivan was a piece of shit then, and Andrew Sullivan is a piece of shit now. The LGB Alliance is led by pieces of shit exactly like him. They are perfectly willing to enjoy whatever measure of legal equality other people fought for while grasping their precious little petticoats and trying to keep it all for themselves and whatever coterie of “respectable” queers they deign to approve of.

No wonder they have the support of the Conservative Party. Elitist pigs love to root together.
