You have to be a Marxist to oppose mistreating minorities? Uh, no. No, you don't. Again, though I haven't seen the article, there is no way a simple statement that trans women are not the same as born women got your article in trouble, even if that particular sentence got flagged. The fact that trans women are not the same as born women is obvious. That's why "trans" is used as a modifier - to make the distinction. The totality of your article must have triggered hate-speech concerns. And from your Marxist observation, I can believe Medium moderators had real reason to be concerned. It's not that the Marxist quip is hateful. It isn't ; it's just silly. But it's a common position among people who espouse really hateful views of trans people. I wouldn't be shocked if you expressed some of those views, not just the silly Marxist one.

But most of all, I've been around Medium long enough to know moderators don't suppress reasonable claims and ideas reasonably expressed.

You're allowed to disagree with people, but you're expected to do it civilly. Heck, conservative religious people post blatantly homophobic/transphobic content to Medium every day. And so long as they don't cross certain lines, moderators don't do anything.

So, forgive me if I don't buy the "innocent lamb" version of your story.
