You have a problem with rejecting bigotry and discrimination? Don’t you find that the clear light of day is the best solution to those problems? Open-ness and transparency? The publisher could take care of this instantly by sincerely apologizing, immediately taking corrective action, and integrating into Medium’s community of writers — who in my experience are progressive, loving, and intolerant of unjust discrimination against minorities.
Heck, if they want to, they can make hay from this situation. It’s really up to them.
In the meantime, calling out and rejecting bigotry must ALWAYS be the best course of action. I’m wondering what kind of person you are to think it isn’t. Would you tolerate a a racist? No? Then why behave any differently toward a homophobic bigot? This is a vital moral issue.
