You could almost have been writing about Chelsea in New York City in the late eighties are early nineties.

We were a very diverse neighborhood then with similar gentrification pressures to what you describe.

The neighborhood was diverse, racially and socioeconomically. People rarely called the cops on one another.

Of course it’s all very different there now with gentrification all but complete and housing unaffordable to anyone but the most well off.

I enjoyed your stories about uptown Edgewater. Thanks.
