You can sure say that again! As a gay man, I really looked forward to this film. The premise sounded really cool. I'd heard the hype about the book, although I didn't read it. And I'd heard some initial very favorable reaction to the film.

Then I watched it, and my reaction was, "This is entirely unbelievable and entirely ridiculous." Too many elements of the storyline were just things that couldn't or wouldn't happen — and seemed obviously so.

I found much of the dialogue to be stilted and corny. But most importantly, too many elements of the plot line were far too unrealistic for me to suspend disbelief and enjoy the film.

They couldn't even get a receiving line right, for heaven's sake. And that was the first scene.

Honestly, everything was so ridiculous that I had to struggle to finish the film, and I thoroughly disliked it.

On the plus side, after I finished watching I got a recommendation from Netflix for a series, "Young Royals." I started watching, and it is everything that "Red White And Royal Blue" is not. It's thoughtful, layered, nuanced, and above all —believable.
