You can also hide their comment from public new under your story. I use that function sometimes when people are spamming. I mostly don’t mind if somebody links to their own article on the same subject, so long as that article is well reasoned and interesting, but if they cross a certain line, I don’t even comment back. I just hide the response.

I think this is one of Medium’s most useful comment management features.
