Yip. The article was getting pretty long already, and I hesitated to weigh it down more by getting into even more detail. I am aware, though, of some of the thinking and controversy as to penetration in same-sex relationships in antiquity.

Interestingly, I think we can see some of those same attitudes surviving even today in cultures descended fairly directly from ancient Roman society.

Common Hispanic attitudes in which only the “passive” partner is considered to be fully gay may have come down to us from those times.

More generally, bottom shaming as a trope in contemporary gay culture is probably related.

As to the woman who trolled Darren Stehle’s article about same-sex marriage yesterday, seldom have I been so jaw-droppingly shocked by such a naked, aggressive display of homophobic bigotry.

She’s actually argued to me that straight people are being persecuted by being forced to accept us LGBTQ people as fully equal to them.

Apparently, she feels quite personally put upon not to have the liberty to treat us as inferior.

I don’t know anything about her or what her story is, but she appears to be a deranged homophobe.

I blocked her because I don’t need that kind of crackpot troll interfering with the work I’m trying to do.

I’d far rather devote my time to creativity and productivity.
