Yes, that's an excellent point. Just because something is legal doesn't mean it's right or moral. But ... obedience to God for an Evangelical Christian often means obedience to a hand-picked list of Levitical proscriptions, varying (sometimes dramatically) by denomination and congregation. If obeying God meant obeying the commands of Jesus to love one another, I'd have little problem with that. But when obeying God means curating the Old Testament by some unknowable standard and then imposing it on society at large ... then we're talking about entirely different concepts.
