Yes, I’ve wondered about doing a follow up to dive even deeper, but as a former evangelical Christian, I thought the most interesting piece of all this was that Christians were only rarely persecuted in the Roman Empire period, and then only in a scattered and unsustained way. People who haven’t read much history are often shocked to learn how little the Romans ever cared about Christians or even thought about them — until very late, that is, when Christians began to vie for dominance rather than tolerance.
