Yes! I've commented before on how Evangelical Christian theology predisposes people to this sort of attitude. There's simply emulating their "god," who by their teachings is a sadistic monster. They're taught to worship and love him despite or maybe because of his sadism.

The theology is sickening and encourages evil: A god created the universe we live in, created humans, and then handed down an arbitrary list of rules that the god knew could not be followed.

And he would condemn to eternal conscience torture anyone who broke any of those rules.

Then this sadistic god sent his son to be physically tortured to death, because he has declared that only blood can atone for breaking his list of arbitrary rules.

And Evangelical Christians are brought up to believe this is a goodness! That blood sacrifice is good, that torture is good, that eternal damnation of sinners is good.

No wonder Evangelical Christians (US style) tend to be so cruel. So judgmental. So arrogant.

They're taught to emulate their sadistic god who is all of those things.

I'll never forgot the night lying in bed when I was 16 years old when it came to me in a flash that this is all a bunch of superstitious horseshit. That everything I had been taught in church was evil nonsense. That the kind of Christians I knew about, who were the only Christians I knew about at the time, were totally full of shit. That the religion wasn't just superstitious nonsense, that it was actively evil.

Sadly, in the United States today, that variety of Evangelical Christian just elected a champion to the office of President. I'm sure he doesn't actually share their beliefs, but they're hell-bent on seeing their beliefs enforced, and on judging us sinners, here on earth so they can get a head start on god's punishment later.

It's astonishing to me that these ignorant clowns believe the things they believe. I can't wrap my mind around how you can be such a superstitious fool. Unfortunately, we're about to experience four years of their extreme influence on US politics.

Four years of arrogant people doing their damnedest to pass down the judgment of their twisted, evil, sadistic god.

Sadly, the poem you just discovered reminds me all too vividly of how disgusting and evil evangelical Christians are.
