Yes. In my Medium profile, I describe myself as an “uppity faggot.” Lots to unpack there, as I intend it among other things to be a statement about intersectionality.

One thing for sure, just because I use “faggot" that way doesn’t mean others have the right to. As you note, it’s a family thing.

Also- while “uppity faggot” is a play on uppity something else, I would never finish the phrase as it existed originally. Because I’m white, and I don’t have the right.
