Yes, I'm not really sure what's up with YouTube on this. They're usually very protective of child YouTubers. Researching this story, I learned that it's common for YouTube to turn comments off entirely on videos that feature children.

And to be clear, the primary, full-length videos in this channel do not have unhealthy comments sections.

So, I speculate that YouTube somehow handles shorts differently, and hasn't caught up to the toxicity yet.

But I don't know. Obviously, the commenters who are saying "British slang for cigarette" are savvy enough to try to avoid algorithmic retribution.

I think some of the other comments about the dad crying are also somehow designed to avoid triggering the algorithm, but I don't know for sure; it's just a feeling I have based on what I'm seeing.

In any case, it's just really sad to see people going out of their way to hate on a child because they presume that child is queer.
