Yes, I have had Anglicans complaining to me today that I don’t understand their political problems. My response is that Jesus wouldn’t have cared about their politics and neither do I.
I wrote about about critical moral issues, citing examples of terrible, genuine human suffering caused by Anglican bishops. And instead of simply agreeing with me and calling on Justin Welby to stop being evil and affirming evil, the talked to to me about “Church politics,” as if that’s remotely responsive or important.
I told one of them, who unironically claims LGBTQ-ally status, to reread the account of Jesus driving money changers out of the temple, telling him I consider him the moral equivalent of those money changers.
He was not amused.
But I’m sure Jesus, who commanded love of his followers, wouldn’t be amused either.
