Yes, I follow Broadway and Rich, and I remember reading that when the 2019 revival debuted. I doubt the high school was attempting to stage that version, and I don't think they could legally do it if they wanted to. Most high schools license book and music from one of two organizations that specifically market to school productions, at prices schools can afford. Licensing that Broadway version would be prohibitively expensive, I believe, even for a community theater of adult actors.
