Yes, I don't know if you read my story from yesterday, but I interviewed a gay teenager whose mother was unaccepting even after he almost succeeded committing suicide. I interviewed her also, and she fell for all sorts of disinformation bullshit, like the stuff by the aforementioned terrorist. She fell into that rabbit hole and believed all kind of nonsense. And her 16-year-old son suffered terribly for it.

That family is just one small example of terrible damage being done across the nation.
