Yes, I don't know exactly what it means when lay Catholics tell pollsters anonymously that they support same-sex marriage and equal rights for trans people. The devil's in the details, as always. But it's at least noteworthy (to me anyway) that Evangelical Christians don't tell pollsters that. They are overt about wishing to deny civil equality to queer people. What this all means in in the long term, I wish I knew.
