…usually arriving weeks later, there are often regrets. I’m hoping that won’t be the case this time. My goal is as un-funeral like as possible. The ritualized grieving templates are, frankly, a huge downer, as well as sentimental and trite to the extreme. For a Gen X cynic such as myself, that’s never good.

Yes, I did exactly the same thing with Lenny’s memorial. I wouldn’t even call it a funeral. I waited several weeks and turned it into an unconventional story of his live, a afternoon of storytelling. That just seemed more appropriate to me. It was certainly more helpful.
