Yes, and while transphobia is certainly a big problem in South Asia, it is (as you know) equally a big problem in the United States.
A close friend of mine who is one of the founders of P&P is trans man living in India. He's out to his parents who support him as much as they can, despite that their culture can be quite hostile to trans people.
His coming-out was in my opinion probably less traumatizing than it would have been in many U.S. or U.K. families.
That's not to say that things are generally good for trans and nonbinary people in the U.S. or the U.K., only to agree with you that we should not presume superiority.
