Yes, and boys who don't go along with those expectations are often bullied quite ruthlessly — in a sort of toxic gender policing that harms girls terribly but takes a negative toll on boys too, disproportionately on boys who who aren't inclined to follow gender rules, and who often grow up to identify as queer.
