Yes!

My partnership with my editor is productive only when I take her seriously while taking myself seriously at the same time.

I love her because she’s ruthless in rooting out problems, but also because she’s happy to allow me my own voice and my own idiosyncracies.

And if she’s had a glass of wine, she might even dream up an exciting plot point I hadn’t thought of. ;-)
