Yeah, the Medium Facebook groups are interesting in terms of networking with other writers. But they aren’t great for finding readers. I’ve spent a couple of years networking really heavily on both Facebook and Twitter, concentrating on people who are interested in LGBTQ issues and progressive politics. Most of them don’t even know what Medium is. But sometimes I go out pretty big in the news feeds as a result. My NASA lesbian astronaut story for example went to almost 20,000 Facebook users. And while medium doesn’t pay me directly for that, obviously, I do get a fair bit of exposure that eventually leads indirectly back to Medium.

It’s a long game, without a lot of immediate reward, but it’s beginning to pay off.
