Yeah, I don't write about her anymore, not even to criticize her. I was pleased when the latest film flopped at the box office, reportedly at least in part due to people opposed to her anti-trans views.

It's such a tragedy. I was a parent of a very troubled kid when I read the first three Harry Potter books ... with him.

The books were fantastic for him, and I wanted him to internalize their values. He did, to large a extent.

All this anti-trans hate Rowling is publicly engaged in directly contradicts the values of the books I read. It's hard to believe the author whose characters stood up for the "other" is so publicly campaigning against the "other," and so hatefully.

I just can't anymore. As you point out so well, tons of beautiful books for young people exist, tons of books with wonderful values.

I couldn't see introducing a kid to Harry Potter anymore, not knowing what Rowling is up to.
