Yeah, I don’t know if charges aren’t going to happen eventually, but the perpetrators are minors, and Ireland has specific processes in place for juvenile offenders — that seek to reform as well as provide justice. I’m no expert on their system, but I don’t have reason to believe the authorities are acting in bad faith. Jury is still out, rather.
What I’m mostly concerned about is the almost automatic, rapid squelching of the video. The family released it to focus attention on a rising problem, and I think society is making a serious error in choosing not to look at it.
I think true respect demands that we look at it.
