Wow, the excerpts from those letters are certainly fascinating! I remember when controversy first broke out over claims that Chopin might have been gay.
Interestingly, similar claims have been advanced (again) in the press just this week about American President Abraham Lincoln, with excerpts of intimate letters to his lifelong friend Joshua Speed taking center stage.
Like with Chopin, historians have downplayed or simply ignored evidence of Lincoln's tender or loving feelings toward other men.
I hope we're reaching a point where we can finally begin to acknowledge and ponder the significance of such things!
