Wow, that's spin-the-bottle scene really strikes me. Like, how did the screenwriter come up with that? A bunch of bisexual grown-ups sitting around playing a game for middle schoolers?
I mean, I realize that sometimes queer people miss out on some of the positive experiences of adolescence, and there's a certain charm innate in consciously trying to recreate some of them.
But ... I would have a very hard time suspending disbelief long enough to buy that plot point. It seems like a deliberate exercise in commenting on bisexuality: "See? They just need to grow up."
I was a mid-thirties New Yorker in the 1990s, and it seems to me that attitudes about bisexuality have barely budged since then.
