Wow! I've heard some of this before, but not the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang detail. I don't think I've ever read the book, but I remember the film vividly from childhood. It came on television now and then, and it was one of the few things that Dad would let us kids actually watch. I wish he we're still around for me to share this little tidbit with.
