Wow, I would have thought that by 1990 such problems were mostly in the past. I know problems with funeral homes were pretty bad in the 1980s when a lot of people didn't understand HIV enough to properly evaluate infection risk. And I know funeral homes eventually started doing much better.

I'm so sorry you had to go through that indignity while dealing with your grief.
