Words do not limit themselves to meaning what their semantic roots imply they should mean. All linguists accept this as axiomatic. To say common word definitions are "wrong" is simply uninformed. Words mean what people understand them to mean. The huge numbers of bisexual people who say they are attracted to "all genders" or to "more than one gender" are not "wrong. "
They're no more "wrong" than people who use "homophobia" to describe bias or prejudice against LGBTQ people, the majority received-understanding of the word, despite the fact that its semantic roots imply a definition of a fear disorder.
Those people are no more wrong than those who "hopefully" to mean "I hope" or "one hopes" instead of "full of hope."
Because words mean what people understand them to mean, because in any living language, word meanings change constantly.
