With the incidence of mass shootings climbing steadily in the United States, it's more than discouraging to see strong calls for more gun ownership and gun carrying.
As I wrote after the Club Q massacre, more guns equals more death. It's not complicated.
You'd think that Christians would be on the vanguard working to stop the shootings and the death. Instead, American Christians are more likely than other Americans to promote unrestricted gun ownership and public carry.
Of course, I don't mean all Christians. Progressive Christians are as likely to support restricting access to guns as other progressive Americans.
But I have to say it's weird to see self-described followers of Jesus supporting a kind of Wild West violence that leaves even primary-school children at real risk of being gunned down in their classrooms.
