While the experiences are different in important ways, gay men who can’t “pass” as straight grow up internalizing the same fear. They learn early on what it feels like to be prey, and how to constantly be alert to potential danger.

And in response? Far too many people acccuse gay men of cultivating a “victim mentality” or in today’s popular parlance, of being “snowflakes.”

It’s tiring, honestly. But mostly, it’s instructive. People who want to carry guns around openly tend to be exactly the type of people who show great disrespect to people who aren’t like them.

Now they want to pump up the power of their privilege with firearms?

Sorry if that doesn’t leave me feeling very comfortable.
