While my interlocutor isn't worth a response, Janelle, what he is referring to is a Michigan Health Department policy to discharge covid-19 patients who require nursing home care to nursing homes with isolated covid-19 wards instead of to dedicated covid-19 care facilities as some other states have done. It became a heated political issue that almost nobody outside the state capital paid attention to.
In the end, Michigan nursing home covid-19 fatality rates did not exceed those of states that established dedicated facilities. The Republicans continued to scream at the Democratic governor, but she had followed the advice of Michigan’s leading health-care experts and her policies proved sound.
