While it’s true that the Gender Spectrum Collection is wonderful and valuable, it’s also true that it is very small and does not seem to be updated much if ever.

I’ve been using images from the collection since shortly after it launched, and I have now mostly exhausted it. Unless I use the same or very similar photos for new articles, potentially confusing readers, the collection doesn’t offer me much anymore.

I know the economics of stock photo collections are difficult, but I see a real need for gender- and sexuality-diverse images, a need that is not being met in general.

I think real opportunity exists in that area for someone willing to take the risk to provide a valuable service.
