"When I'm saying "intensity of signal," I'm asking you to imagine a literal signal, like in signal theory."

Ah, I've never studied signal theory, and don't even know what it is, so I am unable to understand your analogy. So let's stick to the facts and not discuss theories accessible only to specialists.

When traditionalist Christian churches condemn LGBTQ people, they do it because they believe they are right about their doctrines, not because leaders are secretly gay, though certainly a few leaders have turned out to be secretly gay. They are a tiny minority, however, compared to the bulk of leaders who are teaching that they strongly believe to be true.

We do ourselves no good to pretend they are secretly gay when they are not. As I said, counterfactual and counterproductive. We need to be fighting the real fight, not an imaginary one of our own invention.
